ARC Winter Race Information

How to Get There:

From Toronto:

  • 400 North to Barrie - take the 400 extension north of Barrie.
  • Take the first exit off the 400 extension onto Forbes Rd. (exit #111).
  • Turn left at stop sign - follow Forbes Rd. NE for 10 km. " Hardwood Hills will be on the left hand side of the road.

Race Weekend Schedule:

Friday (March 11th, 2005)

  • 5pm-9.30pm - Late race registration and race kit pick-up
  • 5pm-8pm - Cafeteria open
  • 8.30pm - Volunteer Check-in
  • 7.30pm-9.30pm - Pre-Race Clinic ($20/person; More Info and Clinic Registration)

Saturday (March 12th, 2005)

  • 7am - Cafeteria open
  • 6.30am-8.30am - Race Check-in & Race Kit pick-up
  • 7.45am - Volunteer Check-in & Meeting
  • 8.30am - Pre-race Team Captains meeting and Race course information/map distribution (Mandatory for all Team Captains, but all racers are welcome)
  • 9.30am - Race Start
  • 1.30pm - First teams should finish
  • 3.30pm - Last team will finish
  • 4.00pm - Post Race Meal and Refreshments
  • 4.30pm - Awards and Prizes

Note:

  • All participants must abide by the posted rules of the Hardwood Hills Centre
  • Spectators (family and friends) are welcome on-site to either cross country ski or snow shoe. A special rate for event spectators for skiing/snowshoeing and rentals can be purchased on race day at our race registration area.
  • Spectators can purchase a post race meal for $12/meal

Gear List:

All racers and teams will required to have and use mandatory gear at each race. For a complete list of required race gear, please go to Gear List.

Equipment Rental Information:

Participants can rent cross country boots, skis and poles, and/or snow shoes from Hardwood Hills or contact ARC to help make arrangements on their behalf. All ARC Winter Adventure Race participants will be given a 'special' rental rate for the race. Please contact the rental desk at 1-800-387-3775, identify yourself as an adventure race participant and be sure to book in advance, as there is no guarantee that rentals will be available on race day.
