| Notable Teams registered for the Keen Ultimate Adventure
Challenge |
Andrew Cameron & Jason Lane - Team Salomon-Suunto.
Andrew recently completed the insanely long and grueling, 4 month,
11,900km Tour D'Afrique cycling race. For an incredible read, check
out Andrew's blog @ http://www.12000km.blogspot.com/ With an insurmountable
4-month base in his legs, watch for Andrew, and team-mate Jason
Lane to make their move on the mountain biking stages.
Scott Ford & Liza Pye - Watch out for this
power-couple of adventure racing. Scott, a veteran of numerous Eco-Challenge's,
was also the anchor on Team Supplierpipeline in their 4th place
finish at Primal Quest last year. Liza on the other hand has been
a fixture on Team Simon River Sports, and her resume includes countless
1st place victories at adventure races across Canada.
Dr. Bill Wells & Martin Rydlo - Team Urban
Athlete/7 Systems. Martin & Bill have been fixtures on the Canadian
Adventure Sports stage over the years. Both can trace their roots
back to Canada's national triathlon team. In recent years Martin
has dominated the Ontario Adventure racing scene competing on Team
EAS Hammer, while Bill has had success competing internationally
in races like The Southern Traverse, Primal Quest and Extreme Adventure
Hidalgo.
John Yip & Bob McGrath - Team Running Free.
Recent accomplishments include John Yip's successful completion
of the Trans Rockies MTB Stage Race, while team-mate Bob McGrath
took out an impressive 20th place at The Canadian Death race, a
125km mountain running event.
Colin Ridge - Team KayakSport.net. With two victories
in Ontario's Outventure - Off Road Racing Series Colin has been
setting the pace in these high-speed hammer-fests. With new sponsor
Kayaksport.net, they'll be setting a blistering pace on the water.
P.J. Kings & Steve Good - Team Free Spirit
Adventure Racing. This team of locals can boast of countless podium
finishes in the Adventure Racing Canada series. Expect these guys
to use their home court advantage to it's fullest as they tear around
racecourses set in the hills, waterways and forest they train in
every day.
Harper Forbes & James Galipeau - Relentless
& Running Free. With a recent 29th place finish in the open
men's category of the Trans Rockies Challenge, this is another powerhouse
mountain biking duo to watch out for.
Denise Rispolie & Audrey Kelly - Team Running
Free
Chicks. Coming off a recent victory in the 24hrs of Hot August,
coupled with 4th & 5th place results at The Canadian Death Race
(125k mountain running event) proves this female tandem can bike
& run with the best of them.
Dave Corner & Duane Smith - Team Supplierpipeline.
These adventure sports veterans have competed at the highest levels
in road cycling, mountain biking, rowing, x-country skiing and adventure
racing.
Brad Brock & Bill Logie - Team Running Free.
You
could almost call this duo a couple of locals, as they've spent
many years toiling in the hills and on the waterways around Blue
Mountain. With victories in both ARC & Sea2 Summit Collingwood
adventure race events they'll certainly be a team to watch.
Bryan Tasaka & Tim Logie - Team MOMAR/Schick
Extreme.
All the way from the west coast, Bryan is the race director of the
Mind Over Mountain Adventure Race Series.
Tim Grant - Team Trek Store. Usually a mainstay
on The Milton Basement Racer's, a super competitive AR team from
southern Ontario, Tim will be going it alone this time around. A
solid navigator and strong mountain biker, Tim could be one to watch.
